This time of the year is so bittersweet, I love the carefree warmth of summer but the allure of routine and crisp autumn air always pulls me in.

This is also a tricky time for dressing, chilly dewy mornings can lead to hot and sunny afternoons…the key? Layers, layers and more layers. It is fun to wear your tried and trusted summer pieces sprinkled in with some new fall finds.

Here are some key pieces that you can buy in stores now and wear well into the colder months, because they are just around the corner…like it or not.

1. coach embellished saddlebag $695    2. joe fresh long cardigan $39  3. ann taylor wool blend scarf $80  4. club monaco wool hat $129  5. pink tartan silk tie blouse $295  6. ann taylor cap toe pumps $173  7. banana republic velvet blazer $215  8. pink tartan fit &flare dress $425  9. banana republic pleated ruffle top $95  10. banana republic sailor flare jean $124  11. aldo minette suede sling $100  12. club monaco suede belt $139  13. joe fresh leopard sweater $39

All of the pieces above can be worn now and later. The fit and flare dress (number 8) as is for now, pop a blouse (number 5 or 9) underneath and pair it with some patterned tights and booties later. To totally change the look throw the leopard sweater (number 13) overtop of the dress and add some cook kicks. Or simply embrace the velvet trend and wear a gorgeous statement blazer (number 7) overtop of the dress. Take a risk and use your mirror…it never lies!

P.S. I purchased the Sailor Flare Jeans (number 10) and they are so flattering and leg lengthening, perfect for a petite frame. The all over dark wash means they are extremely versatile, easily dressed up or down.

Wishing you all a fantastic day.
