When Levi Strauss & Co. patented its riveted denim pants in 1873, it called them “waist-high overalls.”
Decades later the word “jeans” was adapted from the cotton pants worn by “Genes,” the local term for Genoan sailors.
The average North American owns seven pairs of jeans, that’s it?!?
